19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an better service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
